RESOLUTION OF ADOPTION

  • At a regular meeting of the Charter Commission of the City of Laingsburg, held on Tuesday, September 25, 1951, the following resolution was offered by Commissioner Vernon Clark:

    "RESOLVED, that the Charter Commission of the City of Laingsburg, does hereby adopt the foregoing proposed charter for the City of Laingsburg, and the Secretary of this Commission is directed to transmit a copy of this charter to the Governor of the State of Michigan for his approval in accordance with statute, and to cause this proposed charter to be published in The Laingsburg Press on October 25, 1951."

    The resolution was seconded by Commissioner Bert S. Griffin, and adopted by the following vote:

    Yes: Commissioners Bolles, Clark, Ginther, Griffin, Hunter, Middaugh, Palmer, Poole, and Steinke. Total (9) nine.

    No: None.

    Absent: None.

    The chairman declared the foregoing resolution carried unanimously and requested the members of the charter commission to authenticate said resolution and also the copy of the Charter to be presented to the governor. The members thereupon authenticate said resolution and the copy of the Charter to be presented to the governor by subscribing their names as follows:

    MILES BOLLES VERNON A. CLARK
    MERLE GINTHER BERT S. GRIFFIN
    ALBERT E. HUNTER JAMES R. MIDDAUGH
    GEORGE PALMER DELOS POOLE
    GRAHAM STEINKE

     

    All of the commissioners having attested as to said resolution and also having attested the copy to be signed by the governor, the meeting adjourned subject to call of the chairman.

    STATE OF MICHIGAN, ss.

    COUNTY OF SHIAWASSEE

    James R. Middaugh, Secretary of the Charter Commission of the City of Laingsburg, being duly sworn, says that at an election duly called and held in the Village of Laingsburg, on the 28th day of May, 1951, the following named persons were duly elected as the Charter commission to frame a revised charter for the city, namely: Miles Bolles, Vernon A. Clark, Merle Ginther, Bert S. Griffin, Albert E. Hunter, James R. Middaugh, George Palmer, Delos Poole, and Graham Steinke, and that the annexed and foregoing Charter was duly adopted by said charter commission by the foregoing resolution which is a true and correct copy thereof, and that the said charter commission directed that said Charter be presented to the electors of the City of Laingsburg, in accordance with the requirements of this Charter and the laws of the State of Michigan. Further deponent says not.
